James Miller (Shimell) is an English writer who has arrived in Tuscany to promote his new book. When an unnamed French gallery owner (Binoche) attends Miller's lecture discussing the value of original artworks as opposed to copies, the two meet up afterwards and set off together on a sightseeing tour to the village of Lucignano. On arrival, they are mistaken for a married couple - but what is the real nature of the connection between them?
