An eighties BBC adaptation of George Eliot's novel. In 18th century England a Scrooge-like weaver named Silas Marner (Ben Kingsley) hordes his gold and steers clear of all human contact. His whole world is subsequently turned upside down when his riches are stolen and a little lost girl comes wandering into his life. He decides he will look after her, and the experience changes his life.
